Audio Story Final: Jeep Wave

Jeep Wave: Myth or Fact?

For weeks now, I have been trying to uncover the truth behind whether the Jeep wave is a myth or a fact. Throughout my endeavors, I have spoken with several students at High Point University and even gained an experts opinion on the matter from Ilderton Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram. I was set on the fact that once I had received an expert’s opinion, that I would have a definite answer. As my investigation comes to an end, I am realizing that I am just as puzzled as before.

Jeep Wave: Myth or Fact?

Jeep Wave: Myth or Fact? Introduction Often, I have been a witness to what is known as the “jeep wave”, or a quick movement of the hand made by both Jeep drivers when passing by one another. With the hopes to find out just really what this Jeep Wave consists of, I went around and talked to a few of the student Jeep drivers at High Point University.  Creating the Podcast By only being able to create a quick 30 second recap of the interviews and introduction that I recorded, I had to be picky and creative when choosing what content to piece together. The tool I relied on most when creating my podcast was the razor tool. The razor tool allowed me to cut out segments that I did not want to include. One aspect I struggled with while creating my piece on Adobe Audition was trying to make sure my audio was kept at similar volume. Some parts of interviews I could not use because the volume level was in the red zone above -12DB and did not sound right when pieced together with eve...

Forum #4: The Animatic

Forum #4: The Animatic  Introduction This was my first time using the Adobe Premiere software to create a video project. Though, I was hesitant and nervous at first, watching the class videos that were posted instilled me with confidence and presented me with the right information to begin the project and make some progress. I began by importing the finalized version of my audio story and adding in the still images I collected. Once I had all of my pictures into the project, I needed to figure out how to resize them to fit within the frame and add some type of effect or motion. Struggles One frustrating point was dealing with sequence settings. I learned that each image needed to share the same sequence setting and once I changed it, my images reset and I had to resize them all again. If you are using Premier for your work, I suggest making sure your sequence settings are set first to HDV 1080p or the necessary editing mode that you need.       ...

FORUM ASSIGNMENT #1 This American Life Podcast: Held Hostage

Four Kinds of Audio : Interview Clips: a young girl is in the radio studio on her birthday to record and send her father (who went missing and has not come home) a message. It is played to further engage the listeners with her story and create a sense of empathy, bringing her story to life. Voice-overs: clips from the Colombian radio show were inserted in Reporter Annie Correal’s introduction to help the listeners get a better sense for what the show is about. (also adding in recordings of families calling into the show to leave messages for those who were able to listen) Natural Sounds: the reporter changes gears to begin talking about car jacking’s. Behind her commentary is natural sounds of traffic and cars rumbling.    Ambient Sounds: background noise of the radio station was added in to make the listener feel like they were with the individual who went in to visit the station and record a message. There are people talking quietly, typing on k...
